Surface-Level Damage
Minor cracks, stains, or wear can often be ground out during the initial prep stage.
Patching or filling small defects is standard practice before polishing.
Old or Previously Coated Concrete
As long as the coating can be removed (e.g., paint, epoxy), the slab can usually be polished after grinding down to clean concrete.
Uneven or Wavy Floors
Honing/grinding helps level them out.
Polished concrete is very hard and resists abrasion, deicing salts, and heavy traffic—ideal for winter wear and tear.
Unlike coatings or epoxy, there’s nothing to peel off or lift due to freeze/thaw cycles, since it’s mechanically finished.
